A set for rendering the pilot restraint in the cockpit of a Japanese aircraft of the Second World War period. The manufacturer distinguishes several Japanese renditions and this item corresponds to type 1.
Japanese army as well as naval machines used several different methods of restraint and the differences between them are clearly apparent in a cockpit. In 1:32 everyone who passes the model looks inside under a slid-back cover, so mixing up the renditions shows as much as a wrong interior shade.
The number of the rendition is a guide, but the last word belongs to a period photograph or a drawing of the particular machine you are building. Before you start fitting, go through photographs of the cockpit of your type and compare the number of branches of the harness and their routing over the backrest. With Japanese hardware that matters more than with most other countries, because production changes went on as they went along.
Finish the cockpit including the shading and only then fit the belts. The seat of a Japanese fighter tends to be slim, so the strap has to follow its outline and not stick out into the space. Let the ends drop over the edge of the pan. Finally tie everything together with light translucent toning, so that the accessory fits in with the rest of the interior in color.
