Masks for the glazing of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 and E-7 in 1:32 scale, for the outer and the inner side, cut for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, during the war also commonly called the Me 109, was the main German fighter of 1939 and 1940. The E-4 form had revised armament in the wing and better protection for the pilot, and the E-7 added a pylon under the fuselage for a drop tank or a bomb. The cockpit is closed by an angular canopy with dense framing that hinges to the side. On a model it is therefore most often built open and can be seen into.
Masks cut for the clear parts of the Dragon kit in 1:32 scale, for the outer as well as the inner side. The frames can therefore be sprayed in a different color from each side: the cockpit shade from inside and the top coat from outside. With a hinged canopy that is a difference you see immediately, because the inner side of the frames points straight at the eye.
The work goes in two rounds. First apply the inner masks, spray the cockpit shade and let it dry. Then come the outer masking and the top color. Wash and degrease the part before each round, press the mask down all round with a blunt tool and lay the paint on in several thin coats. Lift the mask off with tweezers at a sharp angle before the finish has fully cured, otherwise it may tear the edge away.
For modelers who build the Emil with the cockpit hinged open and want clean frames on both sides, and also for those who want to avoid the slow cutting of tape. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
