About product

Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 — a 3D cockpit decal in 1:32 scale

A cockpit accessory for a plastic model, not an aircraft kit. The print with relief texture is on decal paper, so it transfers like an ordinary decal: soak it off in lukewarm water, slide it onto the part, line it up and settle it with a decal softener. The set is cut for the Hasegawa kit. A version for the Trumpeter kit exists under the same name, so when choosing go by the kit you are actually building.

What is special about the cockpit of the F version

The Bf 109 has one of the tightest cockpits in its class and the F version shows it best. The instruments are packed onto a narrow front panel dominated by the gunsight, and everything else has moved to the side walls. On the left wall sits the throttle and, above all, two large hand wheels for the trim and the flaps, which are absolutely typical of the Messerschmitt and look like this in no other fighter of the period. The F version differs from the earlier series in the layout of the panel and in its equipment, so it is not interchangeable with a panel from later series.

What stays visible once the canopy is closed

The Bf 109F has a canopy hinged to the side, densely framed and with flat panes. For the modeler that has a clear consequence: once it is closed you will see the front panel, the upper part of the seat and the belts, but the side walls with the trim wheels disappear almost entirely. If you are building the model with the cockpit closed, put the work into the front panel and the belts and do not worry about the side walls. A model with the canopy hinged open, on the other hand, shows the whole interior and the side detail is worth it.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of the Bf 109F-4 in 1:32 scale
  • Modelers building the Hasegawa kit in particular
  • Those building with the canopy hinged open who want to show the side walls
  • Anyone interested in detail without photo-etched parts, a bending tool and cyanoacrylate glue

The set is an accessory for the build, not a kit. The model, glue, paints and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

For the Hasegawa kit. A variant for the Trumpeter kit exists under the same name, so please check which of them you are building.

No. It is an accessory for the cockpit of a plastic model in 1:32 scale; neither the model nor paints are included in the package.

As a decal. It is soaked off in lukewarm water, slid into place and settled with a decal softener. It is not glued with plastic cement.

The front panel and the belts, yes; the side walls practically not. The framed canopy of the Bf 109 reveals only the upper part of the interior.
