A set of painting masks for the MiG-3 (national insignia masks) in 1:32 scale from Eduard. They serve for spraying the national insignia instead of using decals; the model itself is obtained separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eduard painting masks for spraying the national insignia on a MiG-3 fighter in 1:32 scale. Instead of decals they let you create the red stars by spraying paint directly, so that the insignia sit flush with the surface and have none of the glossy edge of a decal. The masks are in kabuki (washi) tape, hold well and leave no adhesive residue once removed.
The MiG-3 was a Soviet single-seat fighter from the start of the Second World War, optimized for combat at higher altitudes. It was notable for a long engine cowling and a V engine, and it was deployed in the first periods of the fighting on the Eastern Front. It served with Soviet aviation as a high-altitude fighter and for the defense of rear areas.
First spray the base color of the insignia, then once it is dry stick the mask on and spray over it with the final color. Do not stretch the masks and press the edges down carefully, so that paint cannot run under an edge. Spraying gives insignia without the glossy edge typical of decals. Work with an airbrush in thin coats and take the mask off while the paint has only just dried.
Masks are not a model. This is a set of masking tapes for the given type; the kit itself, the paints and the glue have to be obtained separately.
