The templates Eduard 1:32 Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero national marking serve for spraying the Japanese national insignia discs onto the wings and the fuselage of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Japanese national insignia is a plain red disc, but it is precisely with a circle that every inaccuracy shows. Pre-cut self-adhesive masks give the edge an exact shape and the paint is applied directly onto the skin, so the marking merges with the surface. The package holds only the templates for painting; do not look for a model of the fighter in it.
Machines from the first months of the Pacific war wore the disc bare, without an outline, on a light gray finish. The white outline appeared only later, with the change to dark green camouflage, when the marking needed to stand out against a dark base. The choice of variant therefore decides straight away which episode of the A6M2 service you place the model in. The disc was worn on the upper and the lower surface of the wing and on the sides of the rear fuselage, on many units supplemented by a colored band or a number, which was sprayed through a template of its own.
Red covers poorly over a dark base, so lay a white or light gray layer in the shape of the marking underneath it. Apply at right angles to the surface and rather in two passes; an oblique pass carries paint under the edge of the template. If the marking reaches across a panel line, run a fingernail along the edge of the mask so that it presses into the groove.
