This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese naval fighter Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero in the large 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Hasegawa. The designation A6M5c (Type 52 Hei) is a late sub-version of the 52 series with markedly strengthened armament and a reinforced wing skin. The model offers a detailed cockpit, a radial engine and a clear canopy; in the large scale the working of the surface comes into its own.
The A6M Zero was the main carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The A6M5c Hei sub-version is among the most heavily armed Zeros, because heavy 13 mm machine guns were added to the pair of 20 mm wing cannon and the armor protection was strengthened. That change was a response to the strengthening Allied fighters in the late phase of the war, even at the cost of higher weight and poorer agility.
Use thin liquid cement on the joints of the plastic. Fit out the cockpit and the engine before the fuselage is closed, and mask the glazing. We recommend a primer and an airbrush; late Japanese schemes tend to be natural metal with a darkened spine. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and bring the panel lines out with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
