This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa army fighter in the large 1:32 scale from Hasegawa. The Allies knew the aircraft by the code name Oscar. The model comes in gray plastic on several sprues plus a clear sprue for the canopy and the windscreen. The large scale leaves room for a well detailed radial engine and cockpit.
The Ki-43 Hayabusa (peregrine falcon) was the main fighter of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force in the first half of the war. The II version received a more powerful two-row Nakajima radial engine, better armor and self-sealing tanks. The aircraft became famous for its exceptional agility, even though it was lightly armed. It was the second most numerous Japanese fighter after the naval Zero.
Use thin liquid cement on the plastic joints. The radial engine deserves to be picked out with paint and a fine wash. Fit out the cockpit and mask the glazing before spraying. A primer and an airbrush are recommended; Japanese schemes come into their own with fine gradation of the shades. Apply the decals over a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
