Art Scale 1:32 Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate (Frank) part 5 is a decal sheet with the markings of machines of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of decals in 1:32 scale for a model of the Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate fighter with the Allied code name Frank. It is an accessory to a finished model, not a kit. The brand publishes a whole series of sheets for this subject and each of them covers different units or periods of service; this one is the fifth part and is listed generally for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.
The Ki-84 Hayate was among the most capable production fighters of the Japanese army. It arose as the successor to the older Ki-43, with a more powerful radial engine, heavier armament and better armor protection for the pilot. It was deployed from 1944 over China, over the Philippines and over the home islands. The quality of late production machines varied because of worsening manufacturing conditions, and that showed in their appearance as well, from carefully sprayed machines to very simplified finishes.
Prepare the base with gloss varnish, otherwise silvery edges will be left around the decals. Soak the elements in lukewarm water for a few seconds only, slide them onto a dampened surface and press the water out from under them with a soft brush. Use a softener over rivets and engraved lines, so that the decal follows the surface. Once it has dried, overcoat with matte or semi-matte varnish and only then do the patina and the shading.
