Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of a stand-alone model of the Oberursel Ur.II aircraft rotary engine in 1:32 scale from Roden. It is not an aircraft model but a faithful model of the powerplant itself of German First World War fighters. The set usually holds photo-etched parts and a stand for display, so that the finished engine serves as a separate showpiece.
The Oberursel Ur.II was a nine-cylinder rotary engine in which the whole cylinder block turned together with the propeller around a fixed crankshaft. It came about as the German copy of the French Le Rhône 9J and gave about 110 horsepower. Among others it powered the Fokker Dr.I triplane and the later Fokker D.VIII; Anthony Fokker himself bought the Oberursel company in 1916 to secure its deliveries.
Cut out and clean up the individual cylinders and the small parts carefully, glue them with liquid cement for plastic and fix the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the cylinders in steel and iron shades and distinguish the heads and the valve gear gently. A dark wash will bring out the cylinder fins and the gaps and dry-brushing will pick out the edges; a fine metallic sheen and traces of oil give the engine a realistic look on the stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
