It is not a model of the aircraft but a refining accessory replacing the plastic barrels from the base kit.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine twin-boom fighter of the Second World War with a distinctive layout and its armament concentrated in the nose of the central nacelle. It carried 12.7 mm machine guns and a 20 mm cannon. The covered cooling jackets of the barrels match the later machines.
The metal parts separate cleanly from their carrier and are glued with cyanoacrylate into the nose of the nacelle. Metal holds paint better once a base coat has been applied. The fitting belongs among the last steps of the build, so that the fine barrels are not damaged.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
