The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was among the heaviest single-engine fighter aircraft of the Second World War. It is powered by an air-cooled radial eighteen-cylinder, to which belongs a turbocharger housed in the rear part of the fuselage and a long duct led under the floor of the cockpit. The armament consists of eight 12.7 mm machine guns in the wings. The razorback designation belongs to the earlier machines with a raised spine behind the cockpit and a framed canopy, that is the form that came before the later bubble canopy. In the fighting over New Guinea it was precisely these aircraft that came into their own both against aircraft and in attacks on ground targets.

Wet transfers differ from ordinary decals in that only the printed layer is carried over onto the model and the backing paper is taken off once moistened. Prepare the undercoat smooth and glossy therefore, best of all sprayed over with a gloss varnish, so that the image settles without air bubbles. Work one element at a time, slide it into place with a wet brush and blot the excess water away with the edge of a paper towel. The exact procedure and the time the water should act are given in the manufacturer's instructions; keep to them, because with this kind of printing they differ from classic decals.
