An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Republic P-47N Thunderbolt in 1:32 scale from the Trumpeter company. The large scale allows rich surface detail and a clearly readable cockpit interior. The package contains transparent parts for the canopy and decals for finishing; the exact contents follow the particular release.
The P-47N was the long-range version of the Thunderbolt developed toward the end of the Second World War for escort missions over the vast Pacific. Compared with the earlier versions it was given an enlarged wing with internal tanks and strengthened landing gear, which gave it markedly greater range. Its robust radial engine and heavy armament made it a durable and effective machine.
It is recommended to begin with the detailed cockpit before the fuselage is closed up, to use liquid cement for plastic on the joints and to even the surface out with a primer. A natural metal finish (NMF) as well as painted surfaces will stand out once a varnish has been applied under the decals and the panels have been lightly highlighted with a wash; an airbrush will help with smooth transitions on the large surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
