Masks for the bubble canopy and the national insignia of the British version of the Mustang in the large 1:32 scale. They mask the glazing from the outer and the inner face.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British designation Mustang IVA belonged to machines built in Dallas that the Royal Air Force received in the last phase of the war. They differed from the earlier versions in the bubble canopy, which replaced the framed cockpit and gave the pilot a view to the rear that the crews of older machines had not dreamed of.
A bubble canopy has no frames to hide behind. The glass is a single clear area and beneath it lie the whole instrument panel, the control column, the seat and the armored headrest. Anyone who takes trouble over the interior will see all of it. Anyone who does not will see all of it too. The windscreen is meanwhile a separate part with a sharp frame, and it is exactly on its edge that it shows most whether the tape was cut by eye. The panel below it is also reflected in the sloping front glass, so unfinished work shows up twice.
Two canopy masks for both faces and two national insignia masks are supplied. The inner shapes make it possible to spray the frame of the windscreen from below so that it matches the color of the cockpit, while the camouflage continues on the outside. The insignia masks serve for spraying the roundels instead of applying decals.
It is best to fit the clear parts only after the interior has been painted and before the fuselage is sprayed. Lift the mask while the finish has only just dried, not after a week, by which time the edge of the paint has bonded to the shape and comes away with it.
