A photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Eduard aimed at the outer surface of a plastic model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory with fine metal parts for more convincing covers, grilles, doors and small airframe fittings.
The North American P-51D Mustang was the most widespread version of the famous American fighter of the Second World War, easily recognized by its teardrop canopy offering an excellent view and by its armament of six machine guns. Thanks to the Packard Merlin engine and its long range it escorted bomber formations deep over enemy territory. The number of external panels and doors lends itself to refinement in photo-etch.
Cut the parts out of the fret, clean them up and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); larger surfaces can be soldered. Make the bends over a sharp edge or in an etch bender. Degrease the surface before painting and pick the small elements up with tweezers.
This is an accessory, not a model. The aircraft kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
