The masking set P-51D Mustang 1:32 for a plastic model. The ready-made shapes are stuck straight onto the cockpit glazing, so the masks do not have to be laboriously cut from masking tape.

This item is not a kit but an accessory for a model of the North American P-51D Mustang fighter at the large 1:32 scale. The masks are cut to the shape of the individual areas of the glazing and are stuck onto the clear part before the paint is sprayed. Once they are lifted off, the glass stays clean and the canopy frames have a crisp edge that is hard to achieve with hand-cut tape.
The P-51D is the most widespread version of the Mustang, recognizable at first glance by the bubble canopy and the lowered fuselage spine. It is precisely the fully glazed bubble that is the most conspicuous transparent part on the model and at the same time the hardest to mask, because it is curved in two directions. In 1:32 scale the frames are moreover wide enough for every uneven edge of paint to show.
First wash the glazing in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry, as grease from fingers is the most common cause of a mask coming off. Lift the template off with tweezers, settle it in place and press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges. On strongly curved areas it helps to hold the mask for a while, so that it adapts to the shape. Spray several thin coats instead of one heavy one, as that lowers the risk of seepage under the edge.
The package contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
