A set of 3D-printed and painted interior on decal paper in 1:32 scale for models of the North American P-51D and P-51K Mustang fighter from the Quinta Studio brand. It is neither a kit nor a model in its own right but an accessory that replaces part of the internal equipment of a plastic model. It is based on the dimensions of the Dragon kit.
The three-dimensional parts are printed and painted straight away, so the laborious hand painting and accenting of small cockpit features falls away. According to the name they are laid on decal paper, so they transfer onto the model much like decals. Do not use decal softener while transferring them, as it would damage the printed resin. The result is an interior with a three-dimensional and colored surface, which in an open cockpit looks livelier than hand-painted plastic.
The P-51D is the best-known form of the Mustang: a bubble canopy, a lowered fuselage spine, 12.7 mm machine guns in the wing and a license-built Packard Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger. It was exactly this combination that gave the aircraft the range with which it could escort bomber formations all the way to targets deep inside Germany. The P-51K version was built on a second assembly line and differed mainly in a different propeller. The cockpit of the Mustang is clearly visible under its large transparent canopy, so interior detail is worth having on a finished model.
