A set of color 3D decals of the SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended to bring the cockpit of a model of the Panavia Tornado IDS in 1:32 scale to life. These are neither photo-etched parts nor resin castings but thin decals with a raised relief, which are released from the backing paper with tweezers and glued to the parts of the interior with PVA glue. The result is a depth and a richness of color of the instruments that hand painting achieves only with great difficulty.
The Panavia Tornado is a two-seat combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing, powered by a pair of turbofan engines. The IDS version is the strike and reconnaissance-strike variant intended for flight at low altitudes, with a crew of a pilot and a navigator seated one behind the other. It came about as a joint European program and served in the British, German and Italian air forces. It is precisely the two-seat cockpit with the richly broken-up panels of both stations that is markedly visible on a model in a large scale.
Cut the parts out of the sheet with a sharp scalpel along the outline. The elements are not self-adhesive: with a damp sponge and a drop of detergent moisten only the backing paper, release the part from it with tweezers and seat it on a cleaned-up and previously painted base in a drop of PVA, that is white glue. The manufacturer does not recommend superglue, and do not use a decal softener, as it would attack the printed layer. Before gluing, check that the part fits the base dimensionally; any overhang is better shortened in advance. We recommend completing the cockpit before the fuselage is closed.
This is an accessory for building a model. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
