Masking shapes for the glazing of the stubby Soviet fighter in 1:32 scale, for both faces of the part.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Soviet I-16 was a small sensation in the middle of the 1930s. A cantilever low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear and a fuselage like a barrel, it was so far ahead of its time that it stayed in it longer than was healthy. It fought in Spain, over Khalkhin Gol and in the first months of the defense of the Soviet Union, where against modern opponents it could barely keep up on agility alone.
The most interesting thing about this machine from a modeler's point of view is what it does not have. The first batches had a forward-sliding cover, but the celluloid clouded quickly, the view on landing was poor and in an emergency the cover could not be slid open against the airflow. The pilots therefore blocked it in the open position, and from the next batches the designer left the sliding section out altogether. A low fixed windscreen and an open cutout remained. The glazed area is therefore unusually small, and its cleanliness has all the greater share in the result, because every smear shows on it.
The set holds shapes for the face as well as the reverse of the glazing. On a part as small as this type's, taping by hand is especially thankless, because tape cannot be led accurately into a small radius. The markings of the machine are not included, as this is the manufacturer's most basic version.
The cut is derived from the kit by Azur in 1:32 scale. On a model of another origin a dry test pays off, as the shape of the windscreen differs between the versions of the machine.
