Responsibility details are not available.
A figure of a British fighter pilot in full flight equipment as offered by Aerobonus, the figure branch of Aires. The name places him in the Falklands conflict of 1982. The package contains the figure only; no aircraft goes with it.
The events around the Falkland Islands in 1982 took place over the South Atlantic, far from home airfields, and flying was done from a deck as well as from improvised strips. The flight equipment of the time already included a full-face mask, a helmet with a dark visor, a life vest and a harness. It is exactly that combination that gives a figure of the early 1980s a silhouette which cannot be mistaken for an earlier or a later period.
A pilot in full equipment is painted differently from a civilian figure: the broad areas of the coverall and the vest will not take a uniform coat, they need small differences of tone or they look dead. It works well to start from the darkest places and add light gradually in layers. The helmet visor comes out best when a deep gloss layer is laid over a dark base. Leave the straps and the buckles for the very end, since they are the thinnest and the easiest to rub against.
