1:32 RFC Fighter pilot N°3 from Black Dog is a figure in its own right of an airman of the British Royal Flying Corps, the third item of a numbered line.
Responsibility details are not available.
The third sequence number of the line of British airmen from the brand Black Dog. The abbreviation RFC points to the Royal Flying Corps, which existed until the spring of 1918 - the figure therefore belongs to the period of the first fighters with an open cockpit.
An individual number does not have to end up on a base with a model. In 1:32 scale a figure is large enough to stand up as an object in its own right on a small plinth in a display case, where the working of the face and the folds of the clothing can be seen. For this way of displaying it pays to choose a neutral base without terrain, which does not compete with the figure for attention, and to light it with a spot from the front and above. Under side lighting, on the contrary, the shadows in the folds will stand out, which anyone who has taken trouble over the modeling of the surface will appreciate.
With a figure displayed on its own the result stands or falls with the head. Proceed from a middle skin tone through a thinned dark shade into the eye sockets, under the nose and under the lower lip, all the way to brightening the forehead, the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. Paint the eyes at the very end and rather suggest them with a dark line than draw them in detail - an exactly rendered white of the eye comes across as rigid in this scale. Do the hair and any beard with drybrushing over a dark base.
