Colored three-dimensional cockpit interior elements for a model of the F-4J Phantom II in 1:32 scale, shaped for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4J is the naval version of the American two-seat Phantom II, which from the 1960s became one of the most widespread combat machines of the Western world. The crew consists of a pilot and a systems operator seated behind him, each under his own section of the sliding canopy. It is precisely the pair of cockpits that makes the Phantom a rewarding subject for a detailed interior: two differently equipped workstations are visible under the glazing, and at 1:32 scale even the small fittings on the walls can be made out.
The elements replace the flat parts and decals from the kit with a colored rendition in relief. The instrument panels, side panels and seat belts thus gain the depth and shadows that are only achieved with difficulty by hand painting. The set is shaped for the Tamiya kit given in the name; with another kit, count on having to adjust the shape.
Level the surfaces under the elements, clear them of raised detail from the kit and degrease them. Separate the elements one at a time, seat them dry first and check whether the shape fits into the corners. Before applying them, check in the instructions whether the elements are self-adhesive; the way they are applied differs between lines and the set does not state it in its designation. Press them down with a soft stick from the center toward the edges, so they seat even in the recesses of the panels.
For builders in the large 1:32 scale who want to build the model with the canopy open and let both cockpits be seen. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
