This plastic kit in the large 1:32 scale represents the French SPAD XIII c.1 biplane fighter of the First World War. The model from Roden offers rich surface texture and detail suited to a striking large replica; it is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The SPAD XIII was among the most successful fighters of the First World War. It grew out of the earlier SPAD VII type and was marked by a strong structure, good speed and heavy armament. Almost eight thousand were built and a number of legendary aces of France, the USA and Italy flew them. The machine became a symbol of Allied fighter aviation at the end of the war.
On a biplane it pays off to plan the sequence with the bracing and the struts in mind. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and clean the fine parts up carefully. The large scale comes out with careful panel work, imitation of wood and fabric and a gentle differentiation of shades. For the rigging wires, stretched sprue or a special filament can be used.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
