A model of the British fighter aircraft Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Va in injection-molded plastic, worked out in detail in the large 1:32 scale, from the production of the Kotare brand. The model is tied to the person of Wing Commander Douglas Bader of the Tangmere Wing in 1941. It offers a finely engraved surface, a well worked out cabin and quality Cartograf decals for several particular machines. Exact part counts are given here only in general terms; the detailed specification is part of the enclosed instructions.
The Spitfire belongs among the most iconic British fighters of the Second World War. The Mk.Va version was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and carried an armament of eight machine guns in the wings. Douglas Bader was a legendary British pilot who flew even after the amputation of both legs and led a fighter wing; his machine with the marking on the fuselage became a symbol of determination. Spitfires of this series found use in the defense of Britain as well as on offensive flights over occupied Europe.
The large 1:32 scale will reward careful work on the cabin and the engine section. Glue the plastic parts with a thin modeling glue for plastic, fill the joints and sand them down. Glue the glazing of the cabin only after the frames have been varnished and protect the clear surfaces with masking tape. Apply a primer before painting, spray the British camouflage schemes with an airbrush in thin layers and draw the soft transitions of the camouflage out in advance. Apply the Cartograf decals onto a gloss varnish, so that no visible edge stays behind.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
