Omask 1:32 Spitfire RAF early - masking set

Precisely cut self-adhesive masks in 1:32 scale for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter in the equipment of the Royal Air Force of the early period. The qualifier early sets the set apart from the later variant of the same range - the shapes and proportions differed between early and late machines, and a mask has to match the period you are building. The exact extent of the sheet is not stated here.

Sticking it to a curved surface

In 1:32 the fuselage and the wing of the Spitfire have pronounced curvature, and a flat mask will not conform to a doubly curved surface by itself. Work therefore from the center of the mask toward the edges and stretch the material slightly. With larger shapes it helps to warm the mask briefly with a hair dryer: the heat makes the material give and it follows the shape better. Warm it carefully and from a distance, so that the paint under the mask does not suffer.

How to work with the set

• The base has to be cured and free of grease, ideally slightly flat - on high gloss a mask holds worse.
• Place the mask dry, check its position and only then press it down for good.
• Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin layers, so that no step you can feel is left once it is removed.
• Once it is removed, even the surface out with a clear coat matching the paint used.

Who the set is for

For a builder of the Spitfire in 1:32 scale who is building a machine of the early period and wants the color areas sprayed accurately and symmetrically. Experience with an airbrush is an advantage, but no demanding technique is needed.

The set contains masks only. The model, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
