Montex 1:32 Spitfire Mk.VIII is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for spraying a model in 1:32 scale. This is not a kit but an accessory for the Tamiya kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of masks from the Polish manufacturer Montex is meant for the large 1:32 scale. The masks go onto the model, cover the areas that are to stay clean after spraying and come off once the paint has dried. The shapes match the outlines of the Tamiya kit. It is not an aircraft model: it is an accessory used while painting a kit you already own.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII was among the versions with the two-stage supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin. Compared with earlier versions it had a strengthened airframe, a retractable tail wheel and reworked cooling with symmetrical radiators under both wing halves. It was deployed above all in the Mediterranean, in the Middle East and in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
The Spitfire has a curved canopy with thin frames, where masking by hand usually ends in irregular edges, and that is exactly where a pre-cut mask shows its worth. Lay the masks down one at a time and check at once that each meets the neighboring frame. Paint tends to lift off smooth glazing together with the mask, so it pays either to scuff the frames lightly with very fine abrasive paper or to spray them with a primer meant for clear parts. Spray thinly and take the masks off shortly after drying. Before lifting them, score the edges carefully with a pointed blade so that the paint does not tear outside the frame.
This is an add-on masking set, not a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
