The Ta 152 H-1 was the last piston design that Focke-Wulf managed to send into combat. A wing with a span exceeding fourteen meters, a Jumo 213 E engine with a two-stage supercharger and the combination of MW 50 injection and GM-1 charging gave it performance at altitudes ordinary fighters could not reach. Only a few dozen were built by the end of the war; they served mainly with Jagdgeschwader 301 and some of them guarded the space over the airfields from which the vulnerable Me 262 jets took off. The type designation carries the initials of the designer Kurt Tank.
The set brings three-dimensional decals for the whole pilot's space. Alongside the main panel with its instruments there are the side consoles, the controls and the safety straps, that is the parts which in plastic tend to be suggested by nothing more than a shallow engraving. The individual layers are stacked on one another so that the edges of the gauges really do stand above the surrounding surface and cast a shadow when seen from the side. The thin carrier meanwhile does not shine and makes no visible rim around a part.
It is ideal to work on the parts of the cabin while they are apart. A degreased surface, sharp tweezers and patience are enough; no further chemicals are needed. The set is cut for the plastic parts of the kit from Zoukei-Mura, which you obtain separately. The difference from a bare cabin is visible as soon as the canopy is snapped shut.
German high-altitude fighters tended to have a fairly austere interior, and the small colored areas and white scales this set brings stand out all the more on it.
