A large plastic kit, 1:32 TBD-1A Devastator, from Trumpeter. A model of the experimental floatplane version of the American torpedo bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large injection-molded plastic kit of the experimental floatplane version of the American Douglas TBD Devastator carrier torpedo bomber from Trumpeter. The model in 1:32 scale contains a number of sprues, folding wings and photo-etched parts and builds into a large format with a considerable wingspan.
The TBD-1A was one of the first production TBD Devastator machines converted to a pair of floats instead of conventional landing gear. It was a test aircraft that first flew at the end of the 1930s and served for trials, among other things as a torpedo carrier. The basic TBD Devastator was an American carrier torpedo bomber that at the start of the Second World War formed the backbone of the carrier torpedo squadrons.
A large scale will reward work in sub-assemblies and an airbrush. Pay attention to the setting of the floats and their struts, which carry the geometry of the whole model, and to the glazing of the cockpit. The folding wings allow an attractive presentation. Use a primer, fine emphasis of the panels and restrained weathering suited to a test machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
