A colored 3D printed set from Quinta Studio for the cockpit of the British Tornado in the GR.4 version. The name carries the designation Small version, so it is the reduced variant alongside a more extensive rendition of the same set. The set is intended for the Italeri kit.
GR.4 is the designation of upgraded British Tornados intended for strike and reconnaissance work. The renewal program transformed the older GR.1 series machines mainly in terms of equipment: new avionics were added, along with the ability to carry targeting pods and precision guided weapons. The two-seat layout and the variable-geometry wing stayed, as did the characteristic low-level training for which the crews became known.
The smaller rendition makes sense where you are planning a closed cockpit or where you want to lift only the most conspicuous surfaces. How exactly it differs in scope from the more extensive version is stated on the box of each of the two sets. Strong lighting and a thought-out order of the individual steps help with the work. Paint the rest of the cockpit so that the shades of the surrounding walls follow on from the fitted surfaces.
