This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer AML deals with a detail that really stands out on a large model in 1:32 scale: the perforated inner rims of the main wheels. A number of aircraft had their wheel rims lightened by a pattern of holes, but on the plastic wheels of kits this perforation is usually only suggested, filled in, or missing altogether. A thin photo-etched part with cleanly cut holes gives the landing gear an airiness and a craftsmanship that plastic cannot reach.
The set is conceived as universal and is not tied to a single kit. From the fret you pick the rim that matches the wheel of your model, separate it with a sharp knife on a hard surface and glue it into the wheel with tiny drops of cyanoacrylate glue. Before fitting it, it pays to dry-fit the part and if necessary true the edge with a fine file.
Degrease the photo-etched parts before painting and give them a thin coat of primer, otherwise the paint holds badly. Paint the rim separately before gluing it in, as you can then reach all the holes. You will deepen the impression with a dark wash in the perforation and a light dry brush on the edges.
This is a photo-etched accessory, not a kit. The exact number and diameters of the rims on the fret follow the manufacturer's current release.
