It is neither a kit nor a photo-etched set but an accessory from the SPACE line. These are color decals with a three-dimensional, relief print that are lifted off the moistened backing paper with tweezers and applied straight onto the parts of the cockpit; they have a noticeable thickness and a raised surface. The result is legible instruments, lettering and panel texture without etching, without bending metal and without the laborious hand painting of small details.
The Yakovlev Yak-9K was a version of the Soviet Yak-9 fighter armed with a massive 45 mm cannon firing through the hollow propeller shaft. It came about at the end of the Second World War and was built in limited numbers, and it was intended above all against ground targets and for attacks on German bombers. The strong recoil of the cannon made high demands on the structure of the airframe and on the pilot.
The base should be smooth and degreased, ideally sprayed and sealed with a gloss varnish, on which a decal will not go matte and will not lift at the edge. With a sponge and a drop of dish soap, moisten only the backing paper, lift the element off with tweezers and press it down gently with a soft cloth, which will absorb the excess moisture. Fix the element with PVA glue (white glue) and leave out the softener: the manufacturer prohibits it on the SPACE line, because it would damage the printed resin. Do not use a decal softener here. Once dry, the finished cockpit can be given a matte coat so that the instrument faces do not shine.
The set does not contain a model, paints or glue.
