Photo-etched metal parts for models of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-9T fighter in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yak-9 was one of the main Soviet fighters of the Second World War, valued for its agility at low altitude. The T version carried a heavy 37 mm cannon that fired through the hollow propeller shaft; because of the length of the weapon the cockpit moved back, so this version has a visibly different silhouette from the other Yaks. The powerful weapon proved itself against ground targets and against larger aircraft.
Photo-etched parts in thin sheet metal for Yak-9T models in 1:32 scale. Photo-etch is used where a plastic part would come out too thick: on thin edges, grilles, belts, plates and small controls. The list of parts and where they go on the model is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts off the photo-etched fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tab with a fine abrasive. Make the bends on the edge of a metal rule or in a bending tool so that the line is sharp. Metal is bonded with super glue laid on in a small amount, for instance with a pin. Degrease the surface before painting and lay down a base color suited to metal. At a larger scale even a small unevenness stands out, so it pays to try every part dry before gluing.
The set aims at modelers who do not want to stop at the standard plastic version at a large scale. Tweezers with fine tips and good light make the work easier. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
