The F-15 Eagle was designed as a pure fighter for winning air superiority. A pair of powerful engines and a large wing gave it an outstanding thrust-to-weight ratio and the ability to climb quickly. The single-seat F-15C version added a greater fuel load and a better radar. The gradual upgrade program designated MSIP II concerned above all the electronics and the equipment of the cockpit, so the cockpit of a machine modified this way looks different from the earlier aircraft. The Eagle stayed in American service for decades and became one of the most successful fighters of its day.
