Omask 1:48 Bristol Beaufighter wheel bay plugs are shaped plugs for the landing gear bays of a Beaufighter model in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aid for painting a model of the twin-engine Bristol Beaufighter in 1:48 scale. They are not parts of the model, nor accessories that stay on it: the shaped plugs are inserted into the open landing gear bays so that no paint gets into them during spraying and no dust is left inside. The interior of the bay and the landing gear legs thus keep their own shade, and the modeler does not have to line the space laboriously with paper or cotton wool. The material, the number of pieces and whether they can be reused are given on the packaging of the set.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine combat aircraft derived from the Beaufort torpedo bomber. It entered service as a heavy night fighter with onboard radar, a role that nobody else could handle at the time, and later proved itself above all as a strike machine against ships and ground targets. Its strong point was the heavy armament concentrated in the nose and under the wings and the robust Hercules radial engines. The machines served over the English Channel, in the Mediterranean and in Burma, and both British and Australian crews flew them until the end of the war.
It suits anyone who sprays a model with an airbrush and wants clean landing gear bays without improvised masking. It serves especially well on twin-engine machines, where the bays are large and paint gets into them easily.
