The real subject

This figure in 1:32 scale represents a pilot of the Luftwaffe in the version for the African theater. The number in the name tells the individual versions within the range apart, so even a crew or a small group by an aircraft can be put together in which the pose does not repeat. The large scale gives room for painting: the shape of the folds and the expression of the face are both visible on the figure.

What you will find in the box

A pilot figure. How many parts it is divided into, what pose it is in and what clothing and equipment it carries are specified in the manufacturer's instructions; from them you can also tell the order in which the parts go together. The joints tend to be run so that a fold of clothing or the edge of the equipment then hides them.

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface down. Before painting, wash the figure, degrease it and apply a primer. Work from the large areas to the details and apply the paint thinned in layers. On the African version it helps to add a thin coat of a dust shade to the boots and the lower part of the trouser legs over a lighter base for the clothing, as the figure would otherwise look beside a dusty aircraft as if it had just come from the stores.

The figure will complete an aircraft model or an airfield scene in 1:32 scale and give it both scale and a story. Before seating it in a cockpit, check that the pose fits the space; with a figure meant to stand beside a machine, check its height against the wing or the step as well. A model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
