An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Takom. The model captures the German Tiger I heavy tank (Sd.Kfz.181, Pz.Kpfw.VI Ausf.E) in the early production configuration with all-steel road wheels and applied zimmerit, in the markings of the Fehrmann battle group. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War, famous for its powerful 88 mm gun and massive frontal armor. Early machines had all-steel road wheels and from 1943 the zimmerit paste was applied to the armor to stop magnetic mines from sticking to it. The Fehrmann battle group was an improvised unit committed at the end of the war; its Tigers are among the less usual subjects that collectors find rewarding.
On armored vehicles, finish and paint the running gear before you close the hull. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic. Do not overpaint the zimmerit texture on the model too heavily, so that it stays visible; bring it up with dry brushing. Apply a primer and paint with an airbrush; a yellow base with brown and green stripes is typical of late machines. Bring out the recesses with a dark wash and dust the running gear down with dust and mud pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
