Responsibility details are not available.
The subject from Dynamo-Models aims at the winter of 1944 and captures a member of the medical service of the American army. The 1:12 size stands between the smaller busts and the large portrait pieces, so it will fit into a smaller display case too.
The German offensive in the Ardennes began on December 16, 1944 and developed into the fighting that the Americans named the Battle of the Bulge, after the bulge that arose in the line of the front. The weather was exceptionally unfavorable: frost, deep snow and low cloud, which long made air supply of the surrounded units impossible. Medics with the infantry companies treated the wounded directly in position, often with no chance of a quick evacuation to the rear. Besides wounds they also dealt with frostbite and hypothermia, of which there were a great many that winter.
A winter scene tempts you into high contrast, yet with this one the opposite pays off. Lighten the military green only slightly and lead the shadows toward brown rather than black. Tone the light elements toward gray-blue, because pure white looks flat in a small format. Leave the red cross until the close and lay it on in two thin coats, so that the base does not show through under it.
