Wheel bay plugs for the Polikarpov I-153 from the ICM kit in 1:72 scale from the Omask brand. They fill the opening of the bay so that no paint gets into it during spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for painting the kit of the Soviet I-153 fighter biplane from ICM. The plugs are inserted into the openings of the landing gear bays and close them off for the time the outside of the model is being sprayed. The bay thus keeps its own shade and the modeler avoids the laborious wiping of overspray out of places a brush practically cannot reach.
The I-153 was a Soviet fighter biplane from the end of the 1930s, the last stage of development of the line of single-engine Polikarpov fighters. The upper wing had a cranked leading edge in the shape of a gull wing, after which the aircraft got its nickname Chaika. An unusual feature for a biplane was the retractable landing gear, which folded into the fuselage, and that is precisely why the model has bays that need to be closed off during painting. The machine held on in service into the beginning of the fighting in 1941, when it was no longer a match for monoplane fighters.
First clear the openings of the bays of dust and fibers from sanding. Push the plug into the opening so that it is flush with the surface and does not stick out; a protruding edge would make a step in the paint. Fit them only once the base coat is finished, so that the bay can be sprayed with the interior shade beforehand. Once the camouflage is finished, take them out with tweezers and look at the edge of the bay against the light.
The package holds the plugs themselves. The ICM kit, the paints and the tools are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
