1:24/1:35 Fantasy - Water Lily Leaves

1:24/1:35 Fantasy - Water Lily Leaves (ETA diorama)

A scenic accessory for creating vegetation on a water surface. It belongs to the Fantasy range and the name defines it for 1:24 and 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but material with which a scene already under construction is finished off.

Water lilies as the key to a water scene

An open stretch of water tends to be treacherous in a diorama. However well a water surface is cast, it looks empty until something lies on it, because the viewer has no sense of scale and nothing to hold on to. Water lily leaves solve this problem more economically than any other option: they lie flat, they do not hide the reflection and at the same time they give the surface depth and rhythm. They suit a garden pond, a footbridge, a swamp and a mysterious lake in a fantasy subject, where the water is often the main scene.

Working with the leaves

• Try the arrangement dry before the water surface is poured.
• Keep the clusters irregular; a symmetrical layout looks artificial.
• Turn a few leaves slightly upward, so the surface does not look like a sticker.
• Leave the edge of the water freer, as the growth by the bank tends to be denser with other plants.

Who the accessory is worth it for

• Builders of scenes with a pond, a stream or a swamp
• Creators of fantasy dioramas around a water surface
• Figure modelers who work in the larger scales

The material is supplied on its own. The base of the water surface, the figures and the modeling chemicals are not part of the delivery.
