The T-90M is a Russian main battle tank, that is a deep modernization of the T-90 series with a new turret, added protection and a modernized fire control system. The main weapon remains a smoothbore gun of 125 mm caliber of the 2A46 series, which fires separate-loading ammunition fed by an autoloader. It is precisely the long slender barrel that gives the tank its characteristic silhouette.
The barrel is the most exposed shape on a model of a tank. From a kit it tends to be glued together from two halves, so a lengthwise seam has to be sanded down on it, and in the process it easily loses its circular cross section. A separate part does away with this work: the barrel is symmetrical along its whole length, it has sharp transitions and a narrow muzzle, which on a sanded part often stays too thick.
Cut the original barrel from the kit off where it passes into the mantlet, and level the cut. First seat the new part dry, check that the axis of the barrel follows on from the turret and does not point to one side, and only then fix it. Choose the glue according to the material of the part and apply it sparingly into the seat, so that it does not overflow onto visible surfaces. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface. The muzzle of a barrel tends to be noticeably darker and more scorched than the rest, but keep the transition gradual. If you weather the model, leave the soiling weaker on the barrel than on the running gear, because the sharp shape would be lost in dust.
The kit of the tank, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
