1:35 Sturer Emil Track Link

Track links for the Sturer Emil, 1:35 scale

A set of track links for a model of the German Sturer Emil self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory with which the tracks supplied in the box are replaced. The individual links are assembled into a whole run; the material and the method of joining are given by the manufacturer in the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

The Sturer Emil is a German self-propelled gun of the Second World War period, armed with a gun of 12.8 cm caliber and built on a chassis derived from an experimental heavy tank. It came about in only a tiny number, but all the more often it is worked up as a model, because it is a strikingly long and angular machine with a tall superstructure.

Why replace the tracks

• An assembled track can be shaped, so that a natural sag and settling onto the ground come about.
• The links have equally crisp relief all the way round, including the inner side of the run.
• The set also suits repairing a damaged or incomplete track from the box.
• Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise neither the paint nor a rust shade will hold.
• Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder.

Who the set is for

For modelers who build German equipment in 1:35 scale and want the running gear taken all the way. Assembling a track is a lengthy job that is worth dividing over several evenings, but the result is among the first things a viewer notices on a finished model. The number of links and their assignment to a model are given by the manufacturer.

The package holds track links only. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
