A set of masks in 1:35 scale for a model of the Russian tank T-72B3M. The masks are laid on before spraying and taken off once the paint has dried.
Responsibility details are not available.
The T-72B3M is one of the newer modernizations of the Soviet T-72 tank, which you will recognize by its reworked turret, its add-on protection and its new observation equipment. It is on these machines that the optics and the add-on protection are what makes the silhouette characteristic, so on a model it is worth doing them cleanly.
Masks cut to shape save the work that covering with tape and trimming it right on the model would otherwise take. The shape is ready-made, so the edge of the paint comes out crisp and the same on both sides of the vehicle; hand-trimmed tape will hold that accuracy only with a great deal of patience. The extent of the set and the placing of the individual masks are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer. It is worth going through the instructions before building, because some masks are fitted before the parts are joined, and once they are glued you will not reach the spot.
The surface of the model has to be clean, dry and degreased before a mask is laid on, otherwise paint will bleed under the edge. Stick the mask down, press the edges carefully and only then spray, preferably in several thin coats: a heavy coat forms a ridge on the edge that stays visible even after the mask comes off. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has flashed off; with long drying the adhesive holds more and with it comes the risk of tearing away the paint underneath. Peel slowly, at an angle to the surface, helping yourself with the tip of a pair of tweezers if need be.
The package contains masks to the extent stated by the manufacturer. The model of the tank, paints and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
