The S-350E Vityaz is a Russian surface-to-air missile system and the 50P6E vehicle is its launch element. On a multi-axle heavy cross-country chassis it carries vertically stowed transport and launch containers, from which the missiles leave straight upwards and only then turn toward the target. Such an arrangement shortens the reaction time and does not call for the whole vehicle to be turned to face the target. The 9M96 missile also appears on other Russian surface-to-air systems. The complete system is rounded out by radar and command elements on similar chassis, so the launch vehicle itself is one link in a larger set.
This is a kit in 1:35 scale, to be glued and painted. The subject is a large vehicle, so the finished model will take up a corresponding amount of shelf space. The extent of the parts and the choice of marking options are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Build the chassis with its many wheels on a flat surface and keep checking that all the wheels touch down. The containers are more comfortable to paint separately and to fit at the end. Clear the parts of excess material and production marks, sand the mating surfaces and wash and degrease the surface before painting. Apply the paint in thin layers and put the masking on before spraying.
The set will appeal to modelers with an interest in contemporary air defense and in large wheeled vehicles. The paints, thinner, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
