Precise cutouts for the canopy frames of the Japanese A6M2b Reisen fighter in the large 1:35 scale, cut according to the name for a kit from Border Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A6M2b, that is the Model 21, was the form of the Reisen in which the Imperial Japanese Navy entered the war in the Pacific. Folding wingtips let it fit the carrier elevators, its long range made it a threat across the whole region, and the first six months of fighting belonged practically to it. Its canopy is characteristic too: a long glazed roof divided into a row of narrow frames that run far behind the pilot's back.
Scale 1:35 shows up only rarely with aircraft, because it is the domain of ground equipment. That is exactly why such a model stands out next to tanks, and at the same time forgives far fewer mistakes. At this size the canopy frames are wide enough for every unevenness of the edge to show, and outlining them by hand with tape takes hours. The die-cut templates sit on the clear part exactly to the shape of the molding, and the transition comes out straight on the first try.
Kits of this size usually come with a detailed engine and fuselage interior, so they are often built with the panels open and the canopy slid back. All the more reason for the color separation on the frames to be right, because it is then visible from both sides.
The set contains masking material only. The kit and the painting materials do not belong in the package.
