Wheels for a model of the French six-wheeled AMX-10 RC reconnaissance vehicle in 1:35 scale. The set serves for replacing the wheels on a finished chassis and is meant for modelers to whom the wheels matter more than anything else on the lower part of the vehicle. The vehicle itself is not part of the contents of the package.
The AMX-10 RC entered French service at the beginning of the 1980s as a fast reconnaissance means, which thanks to its 105 mm gun could nevertheless stand up to armored targets as well. The chassis stands on six wheels with hydropneumatic suspension allowing the ground clearance to be changed and the vehicle to be tilted. The machine went through combat service in the Persian Gulf and in Africa, and in terrain where tracked hardware would be needlessly slow and demanding to transport, it proved itself for long decades.
On wheeled hardware the whole tire is exposed, so it pays to work out a procedure: paint the disc first, then the tire, and go over the transition between them with a thin brush instead of masking tape, which quickly seeps under on a rounded shape. The sidewall of the tire is in photographs mostly dustier than the tread, because the tread rubs against the surface constantly. Glue the wheels on at the close of the build, so that they do not get in the way while the model is handled.
