A set of road wheels for a model of the French AMX-50 heavy tank in 1:35 scale. It replaces the wheels supplied with the kit, so it is suitable where the shape or the sharpness of the parts from the box is not enough for you. This is an accessory for the running gear, not a complete tank: the hull and the turret you will need of your own.
The AMX-50 came about in French workshops shortly after the Second World War as an answer to the German designs seized in 1945. Its characteristic feature was an oscillating turret with automatic loading, thanks to which the crew could drop to three men and the barrel aimed even with the hull inclined. Versions with a 100 mm and later with a 120 mm gun came about in turn, but the weight grew, the development dragged on and the program ended at prototypes. The French army finally took a different route and inclined toward a lighter, mobile tank.
The road wheels stand in a long row, so every inaccuracy adds up. Glue them on a flat board while the glue still holds only lightly, and weight the model so that all the wheels rest down. Only then fit the track. Emphasize the difference between the rubber tire band and the metal disc with a shade, not only with a sharp transition of color, and dust the lower part of the wheels according to the surface the tank is driving over in the resulting scene.
