The masking set 1:35 B5N2 Kate Canopy Mask from Dead Design is for spraying the cockpit canopy frames of the Japanese carrier bomber on a large model in 1:35 scale. Target kit: Border.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Dead Design masking set for the glazing frames of the Japanese carrier-borne torpedo bomber Nakajima B5N2, this time for a large model in 1:35 scale. Compared with the sister variant carrying the In and Out suffix, this is the basic rendition, which deals with masking the outer side of the panes. The set is meant for the Border kit.
The 1:35 scale is at home mainly with ground hardware, but on this type it makes sense: an aircraft of this size really is produced as a kit and accessories for it are made as well. The glazing is generous as a result, the areas are easy to see and the cockpit frame really is long, which is one more reason to have the boundaries of the spraying set by the shape itself and not by hand.
The cockpit stretches across three crew stations and is divided into a large number of small panes. The spacing of the bars is irregular, so adhesive tape cut directly on the model almost never keeps the same width along its whole length. The mask respects the shape of the frame and carries it onto the glass the way it looks on the real machine.
For modelers who are building the large Kate and want the cockpit frames sharp and even without having to line them in with a brush or cut tape directly on the glass. It will be appreciated above all by those who build for a display case seen from close up, where every unevenness is apparent.
