Plastic kit of the Russian BMD-4 airborne infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. This compact tracked vehicle intended for airborne units is an interesting alternative to the usual tank subjects.
The BMD-4 continues the line of Soviet and Russian airborne fighting vehicles. Its light structure allows it to be dropped from an aircraft on parachute systems and to swim; the crew and the dismounts are protected only by light armor, which is the price of the low weight. For its size the vehicle carries exceptionally heavy armament: the combat module combines a 100 mm gun with a rapid-firing 30 mm cannon and a machine gun. The BMD-4 is contemporary equipment and remains in service.
Finish the running gear and the tracks before seating the upper hull. The articulated turret with its sensor blocks deserves careful brush painting of the details. Russian protective green is the basis, and the three-color camouflage schemes of airborne units are common too; a fine wash brings out the welds and hatches, and dust pigments support the impression of a light off-road machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
