Wheels of the BMP-3 with burnt rubber in 1:35 scale from the PANZER ART marque: parts for builders of wrecks and scenes after a hit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A variant of the road wheels for modelers who are building a destroyed vehicle. The English designation burn out in the name refers to the state after a fire, when the rubber tire bands have burnt away and bare discs have stayed. The PANZER ART marque offers this kind of part alongside the ordinary rendition.
A wreck is a rewarding theme, but at the same time a trap. For it to come across believably, the damage has to be consistent across the whole machine. Weathered paint and a few holes are not enough; the rubber on the wheels is precisely what burns away among the first things and its absence tells the viewer that the vehicle burned fully and for a long time.
The BMP-3 serves with a range of armies and in recent years it has appeared in photographs from the fighting in a form that corresponds to this theme exactly. The vehicle has strong suspension and a low hull, so after burning out the running gear stays well visible and becomes the main carrier of the story of the whole scene.
Start from a dark base, not from the original green. Mix the bared metal from dark steel with a blue and violet tinge in the places of the greatest heat. Apply rust in several layers of orange and brown, always stippled, never over the whole surface. Cover the surroundings of the wheels with ash, that is, gray pigment with a touch of black, applied with a dry brush. Leave the remains of the track matte and dusty, so that they do not compete with the sheen of the fused metal.
