This is a resin accessory set, not a model of a vehicle. It contains fire extinguishers in two forms that were used on British armored and cargo vehicles in the Second World War. The extinguishers were carried fixed to a fender, to the side of the hull or inside the fighting compartment, and on a model they belong to the small things that lend a scene its credibility; it is precisely such details that separate a model built exactly to the box from a model that looks like a real vehicle in service.
British vehicles carried hand extinguishers as a standard part of their equipment; the best known of them were the brass hand extinguishers of the Pyrene brand, with a pump and a thin nozzle. Their shape differed markedly from the later pressure cylinders, so they cannot be replaced by a part from another type of vehicle or army. The position of the extinguisher differed from vehicle to vehicle, so before fitting it pays to compare the model with a period photograph of the particular machine you are building.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a fresh knife blade, do not snap them, and sand the area wet with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a thin primer before painting. A brass body is well imitated with metallic paints and a fine dark wash into the shadows; where the hands of the operator touched the extinguisher, polish the surface lightly so that it stands out from its surroundings. If the extinguisher is painted in the color of the vehicle, give it a different degree of wear from its surroundings, as an object carried separately ages differently from the plate of a hull.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
