A 3D-printed resin set imitating the typical chain screen with metal balls that hangs from the rear of the turret on Israeli Merkava tanks. It is a detail accessory for building the Merkava in 1:35 scale: not a tank kit, but a set of chains in several lengths with which you complete a base model. It is made by the Czech brand Firma49.
The chain ending in balls forms a movable screen protecting the vulnerable gap between the turret and the hull against shaped-charge ammunition. A faithful rendering of these links markedly raises the realism of a model and is one of the most striking recognition features of the Merkava.
Wash the parts and take them off the print supports carefully; the manufacturer recommends dipping the part in hot water before cutting, so that the resin softens. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and let the chain hang naturally. Paint over a primer and bring the balls and the chain out with drybrushing and a light wash.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
